Course Information

THEA 270 Ceramics is a free elective course that is open to all departments of our university. The aim of this course is to improve students' three-dimensional perceptions, form and sculpting skills, and experience the process of completing a ceramic object by learning ceramic techniques.

Making a reproduction of an art object is one of the learning methods for most of the artists and artisans, therefore it is chosen as the efficient learning method for the students who are taking this course.

Students searches, choose, and examines a ceramic artwork and the building techniques of the artist such as coiling, pinching, slab building or molding. Then they are expected to finish their object by experiencing decorating, glazing, and firing process.
